Henry H. Kolm
Served June ’43 to March ’46
Henry, or Pop Pop as I knew him, served with the 220th Armored Engineer Battalion, and with the Pentagon intelligence team that interrogated captured German generals and key scientists, planned the systematic destruction of the Nazi war industry, and imported key German scientists, including Wernher von Braun and his Peenemünde rocket team.
His life outside of his military service was largely dedicated to his wife, Elizabeth, his passion for aviation and learning, and travel.
